GT40 reunion
at Watkins Glen

A Very Special Weekend of Racing
The reunion of forty GT-40's from places as far away as South Africa at a US road course was a high powered and popular event organised by the SVRA. This collectorís choice video is the only current production dedicated to the GT-40 and its unique racing history. We begin with the 1989 GT-40 ceremony in the town of Watkins Glen. It shows the current layout of the Watkins Glen race course and reveals the behind-the-scenes story of the GT-40 racing team programme involving John Wyer, Ford, Gulf and other major contributors. Fascinating interviews with reunion drivers like Jacky Ickx, Brian Redman and Stirling Moss are provided along with archive footage of the 1960's GT-40 wins in Europe and the USA. The reunion parade lap of GT-40's leads right into the SVRA 1989 endurance race which features vintage sports cars representing most groups of competitors.
Redman, Stillwell, Moss and other GT-40 drivers show off their driving skills in one of the best vintage races of 1989.

the Story
from 1963 to the new GT supercar

From the birth of the GT40 in the 1960s to the very latest Ford GT supercar, this program charts the life of one of the greatest sports cars of all time.
Designed specifically with one objective - to win at Le Mans - the GT40 quickly became a winner, not only on the track, but also in the hearts of racing fans, car enthusiasts and the public alike.

Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon secured the GT40ís first Le Mans victory in 1966 with GT40s also finishing in second and third place. It continued to take victories in the following three Le Mans, winning the Sports Car Championship in 1968 and becoming the first car to top 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. The goal set by Henry Ford II was well and truly accomplished.

This program goes under the bonnet of a 20th century icon. It features archive and contemporary footage of the original GT40s with Tiff Needell putting two very different works cars through their paces. Just crank up the volume to hear the fabulous V8 roar as our on-board camera records Tiff pushing the speed past 200mph Ė not bad for a 40 year old car! The breathtaking new GT model is captured on road and track, taking the modelís legacy into the 21st century. They say Ferrari should be really worried about the Ford GT, and in this program you can see, and hear, why.

Featuring exclusive interviews with GT40 designer Eric Broadley and Le Mans winner Jackie Oliver.

DVD4032 This Time Tomorrow
And Target 200

This atmospheric film traces the fascinating story of the awesome Ford GT40 and its domination of the world's greatest endurance race.
In 1966 the American car giant was determined to beat the best Europe had to offer at the Le Mans 24 Hour race.
Three teams equipped with eight Mark II GT40s travelled to France with victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe the only goal.
Ford boasted an incredible driver line-up featuring some of the greatest names in motorsport - including Bruce McLaren, Graham Hill, Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney, Chris Amon, Ken Miles and more.
Amazingly, the seven-litre V8 GT40 would not only take victory, but would dominate the race to fill the top three positions, leaving Porsche and Ferrari in the shade.
This wonderful film captures the drama and magic of this classic race, with comments from the drivers and trackside commentary creating a unique and atmospheric record of Ford's important victory.

This DVD also features Target 200, an extraordinary film from the Ford archives. It traces the development of the iconic GT40 from conception to racetrack, with rare footage of Roy Lunn and John Wyer discussing plans for the car and the building of the first prototypes.
Target 200 also features exceptional film of the GT40 - in the hands of Bruce McLaren - in race action at famous circuits like the Nürburgring and undergoing high-speed testing at Goodwood.

DVD40917 The GULF / Wyer
GT40's & 917's

In Action

ĎNever Start Something You Canít Stopí concentrates on the efforts of the John Wyer team of Gulf Ford GT40s to win the 1968 Le Mans 24 hour race. It begins with a fast lap around the 8.4-mile circuit viewed from a GT40. In the race Rodriguez and Bianchi provided a first Le Mans victory for themselves and Gulf Oil and a second victory for John Wyer who had also won in 1959 with his Aston Martin team. This was the third successive win for Ford.
ĎA Year To Rememberí is a marvellous record of John Wyerís highly successful 1970 season when his fabulous Gulf Porsche 917s swept to victory in seven out of ten Championship races. During the film John Wyer, Pedro Rodriguez and Seppi Siffert appear from time to time providing a poignant reminder of the personalities who made such a great contribution to motor racing.
