GULF 917

The Porsche 917 is one of the most successful and iconic racing cars of all time.
This volume presents a detailed chassis-by-chassis and race-by-race history of the Posrche 917s entered by the John Wyer/Gulf team, including the history leading to the 917 and the partnership between Porsche, Gulf and JW Automotive Engineering. These cars were instrumental in Porsche's taking of the 1970 and 1971 World Sportscar Championship titles as the Gulf-Porsche 917s won 11 of the 17 championship races entered.
Relive the exploits of driving legends Jo Siffert, Pedro Rodriguez and teammates Brian Redman, Leo Kinnunen, Derek Bell and Jackie Oliver as they raced the Gulf 917s on the fast tracks of an evocative motorsport era.
Written with assistance from JWAE Chief Engineer, John Horsman, the book includes scans of his original race data sheets, along with numerous rarely seen photos -  many from Porsche's archive. Detailed post-Gulf histories are presented for each car.

Steve McQueen
Le Mans in the Rearview Mirror

A new publication from Dalton Watson Fine Books takes a stab at unearthing the mystery behind the camera of Le Mans. What sets this exploration apart is the involvement of Don Nunley, property master on the original 1971 film. With the assistance of Marshall Terrill, Nunley offers viewers an unprecedented inside look at the movie in his new book, Steve McQueen: Le Mans in the Rearview Mirror.
Though only a 106-minute film, Le Mans requires numerous words and pictures to even begin unpacking. Utilizing over 420 photographs, many of which he took himself on set, Don Nunley gives readers a behind-the-scenes look at the movie in the 256-page publication Steve McQueen: Le Mans in the Rearview Mirror.
Readers get a complete picture of what went into the creation of the film through the book’s 15 chapters, beginning with the backgrounds of those involved with the production to the fallout following the film’s release and everything in between.
While McQueen is known as the star and driving force behind the film, with his name emblazoned on the book’s cover, Nunley includes a wide variety of images between the covers — production crews, stunt work, vehicle assembly, set stills, and more.

Blue & Orange
The History of Gulf in Motorsports

BLUE & ORANGE focuses on the drivers, the cars and the races associated with the Pittsburg company and their famous logo through the best part of 70 years. The lavishly illustrated hard-back publication starts with Harry Miller's Indy 500 challenger which, in 1937, was a hugely innovative mid-engined single-seater that boasted nothing less than 4-wheel drive and disc brakes! In 1966 Gulf Oil vice-president Grady Davis bought a Ford GT40 and formed a lasting friendship with John Wyer. Their mutual interest would turn into a full-scale racing partnership lasting nine eventful years, perhaps endurance racing’s most successful commercial partnership of all time. With Ford GT40s, Porsche 917s, three world championships, three outright victories at Le Mans and an association with some of the world’s greatest drivers, this was truly the golden era of sports car racing. Pedro Rodriguez and Jo Siffert established new speed records everywhere they raced in Gulf Porsche 917s, and their exploits are now legendary. Steve McQueen's film 'Le Mans' gave the Gulf Porsche 917 an iconic status, and a chapter in BLUE & ORANGE features stories and photographs of Steve McQueen some of these are being published for the very first time.

McLaren
Sports Racing Cars

Bruce McLarens sports racers were among the most successful and innovative race cars of the 1960s. McLarens driving was impressive, but it was his cars - particularly the Can-Am racers - that really put the Kiwi on the motorsports map. This dynamic photohistory focuses on McLaren and his cars from his early racing days through the end of the original Can-Am series in 1974. Includes coverage of the 1990s McLaren F1 sports car in both road and race trim.

Memories of The Bear
A Biography of Denny Hulme

When Denny Hulme won the 1967 Formula 1 World Championship, he jokingly asked Jim Clark to do the fame bit for him as he so disliked being in the spotlight. Behind the wheel of a racing car, however, the self-effacing New Zealander, known affectionately as "The Bear", showed ferocious determination. Racing was a passion. This book charts his illustrious career, which included eight Grand Prix victories and two Can-Am sports car titles.

To Finish First
My Years Inside Formula 1, Can-Am & Indy 500
This lavishly produced book fills an important gap in the history of top-level motor racng during a historic era. The author was at the center of it all, first as Sir Jack Brabham's right-hand man during his leadership of the Cooper team, and later when he formed his own Brabham Racing Organization. Subsequently, when Phil Kerr joined his great friend Bruce McLaren, to become joint managing director of an ever expanding company, which was to achieve unrivalled success in Can-Am racing as well as being at the forefront of Formula One, he and his colleagues had to cope with the tragedy of the founders untimely death while testing a Can-Am car at Goodwood. The authors description of how the shattered team was saved and ultimately restored by the bravery of Bruce's co-driver Denny Hulme, already sidelined by agonizing burns to his hands, is a poignant highlight of his elegantly written manuscript of more than 120,000 words. Printed on high-quality art paper and beautifully illustrated, with a balanced mix of racing and off-duty pictures, many being seen for the first time, in addition to 15 reproductions of the paintings by the renowned artist Michael Turner, this is a handsome book indeed.
