Ford Archive Gems
DVD3975 Classic Adverts

Fascinating to funny, collectable to corny – this is a unusual and rare glimpse into the Ford film archives.

This volume in the Ford Archive Gems series brings together an extensive collection of classic adverts and promotional films discovered in the vaults of the legendary car-maker. From black and white information films to stylish color adverts, this film, introduced by motoring expert Simon Taylor, charts some of the best-known Ford models, and the bold attempts to sell them.

Everything from the infamous Edsel to the iconic XR3i, all the greats are here – the Capri, the Escort, the Mustang, the Prefect, the Anglia and the Three Graces – the Zodiac, Zephyr and Consul – to name just a few. Plus Formula One great Sir Jackie Stewart and touring car legend Andy Rouse make guest appearances in this unique collection – even Jackie’s family take a turn as the Stewart clan tries out the Taunus for size.

Drawing from Ford’s advertising in the US, UK and France, this extraordinary collection will evoke fond memories, a broad grin or out-loud laughter.

DVD3956 Classic US Motorsport

This staggering collection of films from the Ford archives creates a unique and fascinating study of American motoring and racing. Three films from the vaults of the legendary car-maker are brought together for this instalment in the
Ford Archive Gems series.

Zero to Sixty is a simply stunning trip through the history of cars and motorsport in the United States. From early competitions for ‘horseless carriages’ – including footage of the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup – to race action from the iconic Indianapolis 500 and film from the classic Sebring 12-hour events of the 1950s and 1960s.

Won for All is a must-see documentary for any motorsport enthusiast or NASCAR fan, an incredible insight into the preparation and race action from the 1963 Daytona 500. The film offers unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the build-up as legends of US racing, including AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney, prepare for this all-American spectacular.

The collection also includes Hot Rod Galahads, an unusual 1952 profile of the teenage American members of the Ramblers Road Club – a group of young men brought together by a love for modifying cars and testing their machines, and own grit, at organised drag events. Shattering the romanticised image of the hot rod rebel, these clean-cut teens are sponsored by the Florida police!

DVD3687 Ford Mustang
the legend lives on

The complete story of the Ford Mustang, from the iconic 60s classic through the latest model. Made under official license from Ford, this program features archive and contemporary footage of the Mustang in action. Includes memorable Mustang adverts, footage from the production line, interviews and fantastic racing footage. Features the cars and festivities from the Mustang’s 40th anniversary celebrations in Nashville.

"The best parts of this DVD are the original Sixties Ford PR films, from an overview of the 1966 Ford range to a look at the 1965 Ford racing season, plus 'Flat Out Ford' and various other commercials. These are worth the price of the DVD alone, so make sure you check out the bonus features. Altogether there's just under two hours of top-quality entertainment for the myriad of Mustang fans out there, though to be honest, any Ford fanatic would find this well worth watching." FORD RACING
DVD143709 Ford GT40
the Story
from 1963 to the new GT supercar

From the birth of the GT40 in the 1960s to the very latest Ford GT supercar, this program charts the life of one of the greatest sports cars of all time.
Designed specifically with one objective - to win at Le Mans - the GT40 quickly became a winner, not only on the track, but also in the hearts of racing fans, car enthusiasts and the public alike.

Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon secured the GT40’s first Le Mans victory in 1966 with GT40s also finishing in second and third place. It continued to take victories in the following three Le Mans, winning the Sports Car Championship in 1968 and becoming the first car to top 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. The goal set by Henry Ford II was well and truly accomplished.

This program goes under the bonnet of a 20th century icon. It features archive and contemporary footage of the original GT40s with Tiff Needell putting two very different works cars through their paces. Just crank up the volume to hear the fabulous V8 roar as our on-board camera records Tiff pushing the speed past 200mph – not bad for a 40 year old car! The breathtaking new GT model is captured on road and track, taking the model’s legacy into the 21st century. They say Ferrari should be really worried about the Ford GT, and in this program you can see, and hear, why.

Featuring exclusive interviews with GT40 designer Eric Broadley and Le Mans winner Jackie Oliver.

DVD3797 FASTESTS FORDS
a century of speed

Ford has always been at the forefront of vehicle technology and getting their cars to go quickly has always been an essential part of the process. Motorsport success sells cars and for 100 years Ford has produced its fair share of race winners from the GT40 to the Sierra. This program takes a chronological look at the fastest Fords out there using previously unseen archive footage from Fords own library. Also featured is a detailed look at some of the quickest cars around today as twenty of the UKs classic Fords, such as the RS200 rally car and a Escort Cosworth go head-to-head at a test track. Unmissable excitement for all four-wheel fans!

"Archive footage of some of the blue oval's most rapid rides, including the GT40, Escort, Capri and Cortina in competitive action. Plus, test track racing with a Transit Supervan, RS200 and, of course, the Seirra." Redline Magazine
