DVD6855 THE CARS OF THE
BOND MOVIES

Stunning, spectacular and eye-catching cars are as much a part of the James Bond legend as Vodka Martinis and the Walther PPK. Since the iconic secret agent hit the silver screen in 1962, and indeed since Ian Fleming's earliest Bond novels, these marvellous machines have been as much stars of the 007 franchise as the actors who have played the role.

This fascinating programme pays homage to the incredible vehicles which have wowed Bond fans for generations, from the 4½ litre Bentley Blower of Fleming's books to the awesome 510bhp Aston Martin DBS V12 driven by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

We count down the 10 most notable Bond cars, examine the role of vehicles in the creation of the 007 legend and consider what the future holds. Experts, enthusiasts, fans and owners give their views, as well as discussing the unforgettable stunts, amazing gadgets and the controversial choices.

The Cars of James Bond features contributions from actor, comedian and Young Bond author Charlie Higson, 007 Magazine editor Graham Rye, Cars of the Stars Motor Museum owner Peter Nelson, The Man Who Saved Britain author Simon Winder, stunt coordinator Steve Truglia and many other fans.

Join us for the ultimate celebration of The Cars of James Bond.

GONE IN 60 SECONDS (1974)
The ORIGNAL

1974's Gone in 60 Seconds is a revered cult classic, mostly because of the delirious 40 minute car chase that concludes the film. Directed by its star, writer, producer, and stunt driver H.B. Halicki, Gone in 60 Seconds was a drive-in phenomenon when it was originally released. In it, Maindrian Pace and a group of his colleagues race to steal 48 specific makes and models of cars in a week, which will net them $250,000 if they succeed. However, the group runs into trouble trying to jack a 1973 Mach 1 Mustang (Eleanor), and Pace ends up being chased through seven counties by throngs of police in what is probably the most exciting and ambitious car chase ever filmed.

DVD139281 VANISHING POINT

One man races against time…against destiny…against the road – in the ultimate car chase movie. Barry Newman stars as Kowalski, the last American hero. He’s the lone stranger – a modern cowboy in a white Dodge Challenger who bets he can drive from Denver to San Francisco in fifteen hours. Loaded with amphetamines and a full tank of petrol, he takes to the open highway. Acclaimed as a high-speed adventure and a document of the times, VANISHING POINT presents a fascinating collection of counterculture characters. Along the road, Kowalski meets an old prospector, a snake worshipper, faith healer J. Hovah, a white medicine man, a nude woman on a motorcycle, and a Super Soul (Cleavon Little), a blind D.J. who talks to him on the air and turns him into an instant cult hero.

Directed by Richard Sarafian, the film features spectacular stunts, dazzling camerawork, and one of the most unusual car chases in motion picture history. VANISHING POINT is a unique, super-charged, action-packed adventure!
